Before + After: Small Changes Activate a Facade

This project was an exciting one from the start since it presented a unique opportunity to design horizontally in Brooklyn Heights. This two story carriage house already had a unique front facade that we enhanced with new windows, transoms, glazed doors, window boxes, and lighting that create a “jewel box” effect when the sun sets. The roof line was softened with landscaping that surrounds the sprawling, lush roof deck and roof window that floods the building with natural light. While the historic facade was preserved and improved, you’d never know the building underwent major excavation to create a below grade cellar that didn’t exist before!
