Before + After: Small Changes Activate a Facade

This project presented a unique opportunity to design horizontally in Brooklyn Heights. The two-story carriage house already had a unique front façade. We enhanced it with new windows, transoms, glazed doors, window boxes, and lighting to create a “jewel box” effect when the sun sets.

Landscaping that surrounds the sprawling, lush roof deck softens the roof line from the ground. A new skylight floods the building with natural light.

While the historic façade was preserved and improved, you’d never know the building underwent major excavation to create a below grade cellar that didn’t exist before!
