More daylight and higher temperatures mean more evenings spent people-watching on the front stoop. The tight parameters of this front yard required precision when re-designing the stoop. By eliminating the second entry door and reclaiming the original arch-top window, we were able to create a more gracious, sweeping stair on the opposite side of the main entry door. The new stoop was designed in a lighter scale, where the stair is separate from the stoop to make it feel less monolithic and an opening brings light into the new understoop areaway. The replicated ironwork is now continuous and has historic qualities that reflect the original character of the front facade. Can you see what other details have changed between these photos?
