Earlier this year, Baxt Ingui enrolled in an official Passive House Academy course taught by PHA accredited trainers. The course, supported by NYSERDA, targets all building professionals, including architects, mechanical/civil/structural/electrical engineers, contractors, and builders. BIA hosted evening classes at the office, of which everyone at BIA participated, along with several others outside of the firm, including contractors and engineers. The twelve-week training course thoroughly covered all aspects of Passive House design, including discussing key concepts and details of design and construction, how to do calculations on a building’s performance through PHPP, and how to understand the economic side of implementation and long term effects. This was an important investment to Baxt Ingui as the firm continues to incorporate Passive House thinking as the standard in all projects. Everyone greatly benefited from the course that ended in May, and is now able to apply this knowledge to all BIA projects, whether or not it is seeking Passive House Certification.
