Ingui Architecture & Design

On Wednesday, January 8th, Baxt Ingui Architects joined the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and Building Energy Exchange (BEEx) to present one of our award-winning projects. Engine 16, an innovative multifamily Passive House project, was chosen to receive an award during Round 1 of the Buildings of Excellence competition.

Michael Ingui and Amy Failla discussed their systematic approach in designing Engine 16, an adaptive reuse and gut rehabilitation. The design celebrates the historical architectural features while adapting a new use as a multifamily residential building with a community facility. As a certified Passive House with renewables, Engine 16 becomes a potential beacon project in New York City. Engine 16 blends historic preservation and sustainable principles for the betterment of its community, both socially and environmentally.
