Exacting The Level 5 Finish

Industry standards define wall finishes on a scale of 0 (no finish) to 5 (the most uniform finish). Typically, level 5 finish is reserved for areas that have very specific requirements, i.e. where highly reflective surface treatments will be used or where lighting is especially unforgiving. It is a painstaking process that requires several finish layers to remove any imperfections in the wall finish, including a Plaster Weld bonding agent on top of the drywall, a fiberglass mesh, Versa Bond thinset mortar, then the final plaster / joint compound finish mix that is worked to a smooth finish. Primer and paint or wallpaper is then applied to this face.
