BIA Interiors Material Highlights Sustainability

BIA Interiors selected the Heracleum II Suspended LED lamp designed by Bertjan Pot for Moooi for this Upper West Side breakfast nook. The home is a LEED Platinum Passive House, so selecting LED lighting whenever possible was important to the BIA Interiors team.

Inspired by the Heracleum plant, commonly known as Queen Anne's lace, the fixture is whimsical and airy. Its organic shape is perfect for the space, which is surrounded by large, Passive-certified windows and opens to a rooftop garden.

The white petals of a Heracleum radiate outward from the stems. Pot replicated this with white, organic bulbs that radiate from each branch of the fixture to create a natural structure. Coating conductive layers of material allowed the lamp to remain thin and delicate.
