Modern Addition in Historic Park Slope Home

After finishing a unique renovation that included a modern rear extension and 2-story garage, Baxt Ingui hosted the office on site to talk through the specific design process and enjoy one of the last warm nights of summer in the new rear yard. This historic Park Slope home is situated on a corner lot and the homeowners wanted to take advantage of natural light, but still have some solar shading and privacy from the street. We designed a pair of splayed facades that increased the rear yard area by 50% and brought more light into each building. We incorporated tinted, frosted glass slats between each window to provide shading and privacy from the angle of the sidewalks, while maintaining direct visibility between the two buildings.
