2016 Building Brooklyn Award

Restored front facade of a historic Brooklyn Heights brownstone with black front doors, a stoop, and ironwork railings.

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has announced the 2016 Building Brooklyn Awards recipients, and we are delighted that our Brooklyn Heights Historic District Passive House is the winner for the Historic Restoration Award.

The project is the first certifed Passive House in a New York City Landmark District. Installing an air-sealing membrane and insulation from the interior allowed us to leave the exterior facade intact. The home is a shining example of historic preservation and energy efficient building going hand in hand.

Thanks to the project team, including Kleen Construction, D'huy Engineering, RJD Engineering, Brennan Brennan Insulation and Airtightness, Shawn Henderson Interior Design, and Gunn Landscape Architecture.
