Passive House Contemporary Townhouse

First Passive House Plus in North America

Penthouse of a Carroll Gardens townhouse with bluestone pavers, striped outdoor furniture, sliding glass doors, and a rooftop solar array.

This Carroll Gardens townhouse is the first Certified Passive House Plus in North America, working towards net-zero energy via a rooftop solar array.

Atop the right side of the building, railing creates a barrier for the roofdeck. Stone pavers separate the grass from a dining area with a hammock in the back yard.

Note from the Architect

We restored the front façade and designed a mansard rooftop addition and large rear addition – doubling the floor area. On the interiors, BIA Interiors was inspired by the home's light-filled open concept.
